Marcello Giordani, 1963–2019

The Met is deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Marcello Giordani. After making his debut with the company in 1995 as Rodolfo in Puccini’s La Bohème, the Italian tenor went on to give nearly 250 performances of 27 roles, including in two Met premieres (Bellini’s Il Pirata and Berlioz’s Benvenuto Cellini), five new productions, eight Live in HD transmissions, and the Opening Night performances of the 2006–07 and 2007–08 seasons. Later in his career, Giordani also established a foundation to nurture young talent. The Met family sends its condolences to all of Giordani’s family and friends.
