Tchaikovsky
Eugene Onegin
Vladimir Chernov is Eugene Onegin, the bored sophisticate whose casual dalliance with a country maid comes back to haunt him and ruins his life. Galina Gorchakova is Tatiana, who falls passionately in love with Onegin, only to be spurned when she opens her heart to him. Her marriage to Prince Gremin (Vladimir Ognovenko) transforms her into an aristocratic beauty—and shows the smitten Onegin what he so callously threw away. Franco Farina is Lensky, who dies in a duel with his erstwhile friend Onegin over the honor of his betrothed Olga (Marianna Tarassova). Antonio Pappano conducts.
