Die Zauberflöte

After an exciting last-minute Met debut in Rossini’s Le Comte Ory in 2013, Pretty Yende returned a year and a half later not as another bel canto heroine but as Pamina in Mozart’s beloved fairy tale Die Zauberflöte. Starring alongside the South African soprano in this 2014 radio broadcast, tenor Toby Spence is the valiant Prince Tamino and baritone Markus Werba is the lovable bird catcher Papageno. Adam Fischer conducts an enchanting performance, which also features soprano Ana Durlovski in her Met debut as the hair-raising Queen of the Night and veteran bass René Pape reprising his celebrated portrayal of Sarastro.
