The Met: Live in HD transmission of Le Nozze di Figaro to be broadcast worldwide on April 26
New York, New York (February 5, 2025)—Conductor Joana Mallwitz makes her company debut leading Mozart’s classic comedy Le Nozze di Figaro for 13 performances beginning on March 31. Soprano Jacquelyn Stucker makes her company debut as Countess Almaviva, and mezzo-soprano Emily D’Angelo returns in her Met role debut as Cherubino, following her breakthrough performance as Jess in Jeanine Tesori’s Grounded, which opened the 2024–25 season.
The first of two casts stars sopranos Federica Lombardi as Countess Almaviva and Olga Kulchynska in her Met role debut as Susanna. Both making their Met role debuts are bass-baritone Michael Sumuel as Figaro and baritone Joshua Hopkins as Count Almaviva. Mezzo-soprano Sun-Ly Pierce makes her Met role debut as Cherubino, replacing previously announced Marianne Crebassa. Mezzo-soprano Elizabeth Bishop and bass-baritone Maurizio Muraro reprise the roles of Marcellina and Dr. Bartolo, respectively.
Joining Stucker and D’Angelo in the second cast is soprano Rosa Feola as Susanna in her Met role debut. Bass-baritones Adam Plachetka and Luca Pisaroni reprise the roles of Count Almaviva and Figaro, respectively.
Richard Eyre’s production of Le Nozze di Figaro premiered in 2014. The creative team includes set designer and costume designer Rob Howell, lighting designer Paule Constable, and choreographer Sara Erde.
Fridays Under 40
The Met’s Fridays Under 40 series continues on April 11 with a party ahead of the evening performance of Le Nozze di Figaro. Le Nozze di Figaro Broadcasts in Cinemas, on Radio, and Online
The matinee performance of Le Nozze di Figaro on Saturday, April 26, will be transmitted live to movie theaters around the globe as part of The Met: Live in HD series.
The March 31 and April 8 and 26 performances of Le Nozze di Figaro will be broadcast live on Metropolitan Opera Radio on the SiriusXM app. Audio from the March 31 and April 8 performances will also be streamed live on the Met’s website, metopera.org. Audio from the April 26 performance will also be broadcast over The Robert K. Johnson Foundation–Metropolitan Opera International Radio Network.
