Repertoire Exploration
Schools participating in Access Opera are able to take advantage of our Repertoire Exploration Program (REP), which introduces students to the art form of opera by engaging the text, music, and artistic interpretation of the final dress rehearsal(s) they will be attending.
Teaching Artist Residencies
For interested schools, Met Opera Education provides a five-session in-school residency program that introduces students to the art form of opera by engaging the text, music, and historical context of the final dress rehearsal they will be attending. Led by a teaching artist, these interactive sessions take place in the classroom and are tailored to curriculum goals in collaboration with participating teachers.
Appropriate for: Grades 3-5
Fee: $400-600 per classroom for a minimum of three classrooms per residency
Cost not include final dress rehearsal tickets. Subsidies may be available for qualifying schools
One-Time Workshops
We are happy to offer schools participating in the Access Opera program the opportunity to deepen their opera experience through a one-time workshop for students and teachers. These interactive workshops will be led by Met Opera Education teaching artists or staff, and are fully customizable for the age level and opera(s) to be attended. Workshops may focus on subjects such as production design, composition, opera history, and voice types. Workshop space at the Met Opera varies based on availability.
Appropriate for: Grades 3 through college
Fee: $500-1,000 per workshop
Cost not include final dress rehearsal tickets. Subsidies may be available for qualifying schools
