Lindsay Martin

Originally from California, mezzo-soprano Lindsay Martin is currently in her first year of the Lindemann Young Artist Development Program, where she will make her Met debut as the Countess Ceprano in Barlett Sher’s production of Rigoletto. Additionally, during the Met’s 2024–25 season she will cover two of the voices of the Unborn Children in Die Frau ohne Schatten and cover Masha in The Queen of Spades. Recent operatic engagements include the covering Idamante in Idomeneo at Aspen Opera Theater, performing both the title role of Massenet’s Chérubin and the Minkswoman in Jonathan Dove’s Flight with USC Opera, and various scenes work as part of the Schwabacher Summer Concert Series with the Merola Opera Program. While studying at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, she sang the title role of Giulio Cesare, Annio in La Clemenza di Tito, and both Nutrice and Mercurio in L’Incoronazione di Poppea. In 2024, she was named the winner of the Los Angeles District and won second place in the Western Region of the Met’s Laffont Competition. Later that year, she was a semifinalist in Houston Grand Opera’s Eleanor McCollum Competition and a finalist in the National Opera Association Vocal Competition. In 2023, she won fourth place in the Palm Springs Opera Guild Competition. She is an alumna of the Curtis Institute of Music’s Summerfest Young Artist Program, Aspen Opera Theater and VocalARTS Program, and the Merola Opera Program at San Francisco Opera. She holds degrees in voice from the University of Southern California Thornton School of Music and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.
