Unborn Child in Die Frau ohne Schatten 

Hannah Jones is a mezzo-soprano from Houston, Texas currently in her first year in the Lindemann Young Artist Development Program. She joined the Met's 2024 Summer Parks Recital Series as part of the City Parks Foundation’s SummerStage Festival and will make her stage debut during the 2024–25 season as one of the voices of the Unborn Children in Die Frau ohne Schatten and cover the role of Iras in John Adams’s Antony and Cleopatra. Additionally, she will make her company debut as Jennie Jackson in the world premiere of Tazewell Thompson’s Jubilee at Seattle Opera. Previous operatic engagements include covering Monisha in Joplin’s Treemonisha and Mrs. McLean in Floyd’s Susannah with Opera Theater of Saint Louis, Hermia in Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and Maman/La Libellule in Ravel’s L’Enfant et les sortilèges at the Manhattan School of Music. She has performed on ABC’s Good Morning America with The Denyce Graves Foundations’ Shared Voices program, and in concert performances with Opera for Peace in Rome, Italy. In 2024, she was named Winner of the DC-Maryland-Virginia District and recipient of the Encouragement Award from the Eastern Region of the Met’s Laffont Competition. Later that year, she won second place in the Manhattan School of Music’s Alan M. and Joan Taub Ades Vocal Competition and received the Richard F. Gold Career Grant from the Shoshana Foundation. She is an alumna of the Gerdine Young Artist Program at Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, the Seagle Festival Emerging Artist Program, and was a member of the inaugural cohort of The Denyce Graves Foundations’ Shared Voices program. She holds degrees in voice from Lawrence University and the Manhattan School of Music.
