Ainadamar (Flamenco Dancers)
The Metropolitan Opera will be auditioning exceptional Flamenco DANCERS for 2024-25 new production of Osvaldo Golijov’s, Ainadamar, directed and choreographed by Deborah Colker, with additional Flamenco choreography by Antonio Najarro. The Met is seeking 1 Performer and 1 Cover to portray men, and 1 Performer and 1 Cover to portray women. Dancers should have strong acting abilities, will be expected to display fan skills, and may be asked to climb and dance on raised set pieces. Those seeking a woman’s role should also have experience in the use of Bata de Cola.
In order to fulfill this engagement, dancers will need to be available for rehearsals beginning September 3, through the final dress scheduled for October 11, 2024, and as needed; and for performances scheduled for:
Oct 14, 19, 22, 25, 27 mat, 30, Nov 2 mat, 6, 9 mat, 2024.

This audition will be open to dancers who are members of AGMA (American Guild of Musical Artists, Inc.) and/or AEA (Actor’s Equity Association), as well as non-union dancers. Individuals who are cast in this production and hired by the Met will be required to join AGMA.
Rehearsals will pay no less than $61.84/hour. Overtime rates are paid under some circumstances, as provided in The Met’s agreement with AGMA. Performances will pay no less than $221.81/performance performed, or $221.81/performance covered. Performance extras are paid when appropriate based on casting, choreography, and staging. These roles will be hired as W2 employees.
ADDITIONAL AUDITION INFORMATION
- These are in-person auditions only.
- Dancers cast in any production and hired by the Met will be required to join AGMA. If you are an AGMA or AEA member, please bring your VALID membership card with you.
- The audition will consist of Flamenco style movement. Please bring appropriate footwear.
Please enter the Metropolitan Opera House (Lincoln Center) through the Concourse doors into Founders’ Hall. Auditions will be held in the dance studio, Studio C19.
