Un Ballo in Maschera

A marvelous cast vividly brings to life Verdi’s passionate story of love, betrayal, and revenge. Suave-voiced Carlo Bergonzi, often called the poet of tenors, is the Swedish king in love with Amelia (the glorious Leontyne Price in stupendous form). But she is the wife of his best friend and confidant, Count Anckarström (the great baritone Robert Merrill) who discovers the lovers’ secret and assassinates the king at a royal ball.
