Rossini
Le Comte Ory
Tenor Juan Diego Flórez gives a sensational performance in the title role of Rossini’s rarely heard, gender-bending comedy. Disguised as nuns, Ory and his men gain entrance to the castle of Countess Adèle (Pretty Yende in her Met debut), but the Counts attempts at seduction go comically wrong. Karine Deshayes is Isolier, Ory’s page who is also in love with the Countess and determined to beat the Count at his own game. Nathan Gunn sings Raimbaud, Ory’s boon companion, and bel canto specialist Maurizio Benini conducts.
